The nation’s physicians, nurses, hospital and health system leaders, are encouraging the American public to get the COVID-19 vaccine when it’s their turn – and to continue wearing a face mask, maintaining physical distance, and washing their hands so we can defeat COVID and get back to the moments we miss with friends and family.

The groups also stress that while the COVID-19 vaccines have undergone a rigorous process and been proven safe, effective, and lifesaving, getting vaccinated comes down to a choice everyone must make for themselves and their loved ones. Up-to-date information on COVID-19 vaccines can be found at cdc.gov or by reaching out and asking trusted physicians, nurses, or other health care workers.

Please run this PSA from the American Medical Association, the American Nurses Association, and the American Hospital Association to encourage people to get the COVID-19 vaccine when it’s their turn. The arrival of vaccines is good news in the fight to defeat COVID-19, but it does not signal an immediate end to our nation’s suffering. Just as we have been pushing for adoption of the precautions we all know work – masking, hand hygiene and physical distancing – we must also push for high rates of vaccination within the U.S. population if we hope to overcome this virus.
