Free Financial Help for Older Adults
Dear Public Service Announcement Director:
For more than seventy years, the National Council on Aging (NCOA), a nationally recognized non-profit, has worked tirelessly so older Americans can age well with dignity and economic security. Now more than ever, the financial security component has become crucial because of the economic dangers COVID-19 poses to seniors and households with older adults and people with disabilities.
NCOA, has created 30 and 15 second TV/Radio PSAs to educate older adults on the billions of dollars in free benefits available to older adults and people with disabilities from federal, state and local governments as well as the private sector. These include help to pay for food, medicine, utilities and even tax relief. It includes links to local organizations that can help process these applications. The PSAs urge interested older adults to visit www.BenefitsCheckUp.org to quickly determine the best way to access these benefits. The 30 second is a comprehensive PSA outlining the full range of benefits, while the 15 second PSAs focus on Food (SNAP), Medicare and Tax relief.
We appreciate your help in spreading the word to vulnerable older adults and people with disabilities, their families and caregivers in your community about these truly life changing benefits that have already helped millions of older adults access billions of dollars. It is a vital resource for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic aftermath.
Thank You.
